On Monday, the Texas Senate State Affairs Committee will hear testimony on a harmful bill that would eliminate abortion coverage in the health insurance exchange. The House State Affairs Committee heard testimony on a similar bill earlier this month.

Voice your opposition to Senate Bill 575 and House Bill 3130 and protect access to safe and legal abortion care in Texas.

Dear Lawmaker,

Please oppose SB 575 and HB 3130, bills that would endanger Texans’ health and safety. Taking away insurance coverage does not reduce the need for abortion, it only makes it harder to access safe and timely medical care.

SB 575 and HB 3130 would disproportionately harm low-income Texans, for whom abortion is difficult, if not impossible, to obtain without insurance coverage. Do not limit Texans’ access to reproductive health care based on their income.

Our government should not be in the business of banning insurance coverage for a legal medical procedure. If private insurance companies provide abortion coverage, politicians should not interfere.

I urge you to oppose SB 575 and HB 3130. It’s time to trust Texans to make their own reproductive health care decisions and ensure that all Texans have access to safe and legal abortion care.
